I am an artist working with thread creating images and re-creating digital images.
My subjects include digital art, as well as art focusing on social media, exploring the qualities and pressures of social media within society.
I was born in Beddau, South Wales. After having my children I worked as a specialist teaching assistant for children with special educational needs and ran after-school craft clubs teaching them about the different mediums within art.
I was taught to sew at 6 years old and it has always been a part of my life.
For the last 5 years I have been experimenting and perfecting a process that allows me to bring digital art 'to life'.
I start with a picture (drawn or digital), the image is then converted to a chart and I build the colour palette. I normally use between 40 to 60 colours depending on the level of detail I'd like to show.
It is a lengthy process with pictures taking up to 400 hours to complete.
Sewing was once a mainstream skill which has dwindled over the last few decades. I passionately believe in the medium I'm using.
